Mile End Deli started with a mission to continue the legacy of our grandmothers’ cooking and introduce Montreal-style cuisine to New York.
When we opened Mile End, our tiny Brooklyn restaurant, we had a mission: to share the classic Jewish comfort food of our childhood. Using our grandmothers’ recipes as a starting point, we updated traditional dishes and elevated them with fresh ingredients and from-scratch cooking techniques.
Both a Jewish delicatessen and a Canadian-style restaurant, we pride ourselves on bringing two very unique cuisines to New Yorkers. Dishes such as Montreal-style smoked meat, homemade hotdogs with tangy kraut, poutine, fresh whitefish salad, and a wacky foie gras cinnamon bun sandwich speak to both sources of inspiration. Beyond tradition, our food is lovingly prepared with the highest quality ingredients along with hormone and antibiotic-free meat and fish.
Since our first opening, we have expanded to Manhattan, as well as Nashville, Tennessee!
We are humbled by the attention we've garnered from these media outlets: The NY Times, NY Magazine, Eater NY, Food & Wine, Saveur, Bon Appétit, The New Yorker, Timeout, Zagat, Vice Munchies and more. Thanks!
